Week One

Well, the journey has begun! Week one of IM training is under way and already I have realised a few key points.

#1 Running on a treadmill is not the most enjoyable of activities... ok it sucks because it is so boring! I am not sure what I am going to do when I have to run 3 hours on the treadmill on Sunday? Any suggestions?
#2 I am going to always have to have an extra banana in my bag.... I am always hungry! and lastly,
#3 sleep is my best friend:)

I think that figuring out these three things early I am in a good place right now. I feel great and I am actually really excited.

Recap of the week so far:
Best workout: Sunday's run (23km in the cold sunshine with Janet and Kelly)
Most challenging workout: Tuesday's swim.... 500m intervals with strong 50's
The workout that kicked my butt! Monday's spin class:) those darn hills

Anyway its 8:33pm and 5:45am swim does come early. It is a little sad that I have to start my routine for bed already.... however this time does not include my reading time which is my new years resolution. So if you know any good books let me know!

Until tomorrow,

good night

Last Week Happenings!

This past week was crazy! As my practicum comes to an end there are so many things going on! Report cards, formal observations, field trips and marking marking marking! Anyway I ahve been meaning to post some halloween pics, (I went as a flapper girl from the 20`s) which was super fun and of course I made my costume! I am not sure who had more fun me giving out the candy or the trick or treaters! Those were the bat cookies that I made for my students. Very delicious but I don`t think I`ll ever do it again, haha So much time!.... but i know worth it:)
I have also posted a few pics from the summer as promised.
There are Capilano with Kaitlin, hiking the Chief in Squamish, graduation, and of course Halloween.

But this weekend is being consumed by marking and prepping! Also dad and I are home alone so I am sure we will get up to something! Right now though its raining so hard I just want to watch a movie, but anyway I think I`m due for a lazy day. So happy lazy Saturday to you all!

WOW..... I am a slacker!

So I will admit that I have been a blogging slacker... ok ok a MAJOR blogging slacker! But I have been incredibly busy but now I feel that I am able to have the time to share the past few months with you as well as keep you posted in a much more orderly fashion this time.

Well last time I posted I have ran my first half marathon, well since then I have ran two more and also completed my first triathlon! It was a busy summer in terms of races, but I am taking a bit of a break now and I think I am in the need of a new challenge. I am thinking some more hiking this winter or maybe I will take up snowboarding or trail running...hmmm any suggestions?

This past summer was school, school, school so I am happy its over and I am now in my practicum. Teaching is absolutely a dream and I cannot believe that I am almost a full teacher! I have had so many hilarious moments and growing moments and I frankly moments when I doubted everything, but the students make it up to you somehow. Last week at my school we celebrated Diwali and the kids got me a Diwali suit that I wore and it was hot pink with blue and yellow crystal jewels! It was so awesome and one of my grade nines says to me, "Ms. Bell.... You look beautiful!" haha it was hilarious and so cute. (Even though they are high school, you forget how young they are too!) My practicum has been going by so fast and there have been so many stories, but I will save some of them for later posts...

Outside school, life is planning school! haha oh the life of teachers:) But I have been able to do a few fun things too! In the summer I went on a few trips, weekend to Seattle, hikes in Squamish (pictures to come), camping on Bowen Island and just hanging out with friends. Last weekend I won Rascal Flatts tickets, so Christina, my mom and I went to the concert, so that was definitely a long over due girls night. I must admit my social life has been a little slacking, but I take advantage of it when I can and I manage to stay pretty busy:)

This year I am excited for Halloween, but I think its going to be a more low key year. I even have a costume this year.... the Paper Bag Princess and no party to go to! What is wrong with me... but I know that something will come up. But I will post the pictures for sure because my pumpkin cookies and my carved pumpkin are definitely a must see! haha

Anyway I am off to bed, and I hope that I have given you enough info to get you back into my life. I promise..... promise that I will update consistently and keep you all in my exciting life:)

thanks for listening
xo night

ok.... Time for an update!

Hello again! I know it has been a very long time and I have so many things that have happened since the last post.
I guess firstly I have begun my teaching program, and already we are a third of the way through. I have finished my first practicum and am in summer session right now. Actually, there will be many many many more frequent blog posts to come within the next months because with the classes I am taking this summer, three of the them require I blog about my learning. I am taking some pretty cool classes about multimedia and technology as well as some environmental sustainability stuff, so hopefully you all enjoy the summer school adventure. (I will try and post cool links to things I have found too)
One cool link already is delicious.com check it out, it is a social bookmarking website that allows you to have all your bookmarks at any computer as well as it is a great resource tool.

Besides from school I have began running, and just finished my first half marathon, with a time of 2:01:23. I am really happy about it, and (i hate to admit this) but have become a little addicted to running. I have already signed up for three more this year! Anyway it was a great goal, and I couldn't have done it without the support of my running group and of course all of you, so thank you!!

Sadly, that is really about it. I mean there is so much more detail about my practicum and school and of course race pictures, but I will post those later on. So until then....

Honduras.... +35 to -5 in one day!

My trip to Honduras was amazing, except for the fact that I went to +35 to -5 when returning home. But it was worth it. We went up to an island called Utila which is in the Caribbean. It was hot and beautiful. We went snorkelling and saw tons of fish and sting rays and coral. We went basically from the hammock to the water and back. It was totally relaxing. On the way back to the main land we stayed a couple of days in La Ceiba, where we went on a jungle tour and zip lining. It was super fun, not the hugest thrill of my life but really fun. On the jungle tour we ate termites! they actually taste like carrots! but the week in the sunshine went by way to quick, but it was worth every minute, I cannot wait to see where my next trip will be!

An Update... very late update!

Well I know it has been an incredibly long time, and I do apologize (to those who actually read this) but I have been very busy. Work and school are crazy, but this is the last week of my undergrad career.... woohoo!! PDP starts Jan. 12 and my 1/2 marathon training starts Jan. 13 so those are the two things that I am absolutely pumped about right now.
But I guess I should tell you about my trip to Toronto. A few weeks ago, I went to Toronto to visit my friends Kaitlin and Erin. THey are both fabulous and it was such a great weekend. Seeing friends is probably one of the most wonderful things. I also went to see Kaitlin's show and she was absolutely stunning as always, the dance was beautiful. It was also nice to feel some brisk weather, but let me tell you now, I am ready for some heat.
I can't believe that I already leave on Thursday for my next trip, and I promise I will blog. But will be so quick because its only a week, but anyway who can say no to the beach and the sun for a week right? Honduras baby here I come!!
however, before HOnduras I still have an exam, so its back to the books.... adios!

Whales and Waterfalls

This past weekend I went to Victoria to visit my cousin Julia and we had the most wonderful weekend. It started with the best stir fry I have ever had from the Noodle House in China Town. We had somewhat of an early night because in the morning we went to Sombrio with Julia's boyfriend Benny and his roomate Max. Sombrio is about an hour and a half out of Victoria and it was a picture perfect day!
The waves were not that big, but perfect for me for my first time. Surprisingly I actually caught a wave and stood up, it was AMAZING!! Julia is a wonderful teacher. We surfed for a few hours and another huge highlight was that we saw grey whales. And not just any whale but a big grey whale that was only about 10-15 metres away!!! It was scary but spectacular all at the same time. After we caught a few more waves we took a break and we went on a little hike. We ended up finding a waterfall that actually felt like it was in another world. I felt that we were in a time warp experiencing something that no one else had. We had an unbelievable day:)
The rest of the weekend consisted of more great food, great coffee, beautiful walks through the park, of course some beers and wine and many laughs.
I cannot wait to go surfing again and go back to Victoria and have another rockin' weekend with my cousin.
